SCHOOL/DAYCARE MUSIC PROGRAM
Annette Meyer Studios strives to achieve a progressive and innovative means of music education and music therapy. Our music curriculum focuses on four integral components that are designed to accelerate your child(s) learning methods as well as benefit him/her in all areas of academics. Our curriculum builds upon itself over time so that there are new concepts being introduced at each class, and yet, the basics are continually reviewed for consistency of learning. At it’s completion, your child will have been exposed to the following:
MUSIC PRINCIPLES OF SOUND, RHYTHM, MELODY, DYNAMICS AND TONE
Using rhythmic timing and tempo, participants will begin applying mathematical concepts to understand the construction of melody and harmony in songs. Focusing on ear-training with song recognition, as well as call and response, participants expand their exploration of ranges through vocal, audible and inaudible instruments. Dynamics and tone, from warm-ups to performances, are focused on practical application purposes. Instruments are taught in families (ie: woodwinds, brass, percussion, etc) with hands on exploration for maximum benefits.
MUSIC THROUGH MOVEMENT
Active movement begins each session so that participants see music as an exciting spontaneous event, which also generates enormous cardiovascular benefits. Using creative methods involving all types of songs and activities, Annette Meyer Studios teaches improved fine motor skills, as well as concepts including; following directions, right/left discrimination, auditory skills, body identification and improved self-awareness, muscle development and coordination as well as directionality.
MUSIC THROUGH LANGUAGE
As it is proven that learning a new language goes faster when introduced via song, we explore through cultural song diversity the building basics of music and language together. Italian is introduced as the primary vocabulary, with annual words and definitions around 100. Applying the words to music theory concepts, we then continue on and begin learning songs inherent to each culture on a global exploration including; ethnic/folk, religious/secular, ancestral heritages, global patriotism and contemporary artists from around the world. Learning the words, definitions and construction of the songs and instruments used to play them, expands the knowledge of all participants about the world around us.
MUSIC TO ADVANCE
Using music and the structure it possesses, Annette Meyer Studios focuses on getting each participant to advance in a myriad of areas. Basic timing, language abilities, vocabulary, concentration, planning skills, as well as capabilities for cooperative decision making and leadership. This ensures that we concentrate on the future success of our participants, not just their current success.
